Berenice is a foodie like me. She has been my partner in crime in many food adventures already (Banoi’s, Milky & Sunny + Cab, Bellarocca and Naci Comfort Food & Dessert Bar to name a few).
For her birthday last January, she decided to order several dozens of cupcakes from Joanie’s Cupcakes. Did she have a party? No. We first encountered Joanie’s at the Ultimate Taste Test 7.0 last November and she loved the cupcakes so much she wanted to have them for her birthday. So what did she do? She ordered a bunch of cupcakes to give to her family and friends, sweet diba?

* Pardon the HORRIBLE photos. They were all taken by my inferior Nokia phone. All cameras (DSLR and point and shoot) were prohibited.
It’s no secret I’ve been crushing on Zac (post High School Musical mind you, he was too young then – eeewwww). When Penshoppe snagged him as an endorser, I knew a visit to the Philippines was inevitable. Shrieks and mad eyes came upon me on that fateful August day when I found out that Zac was coming to the Philippines. Like a perfectly crafted storyline, he was scheduled to have his Fan Conference 4 days after my birthday.

Speaking of lack of travel and food....I usually go out of town/country for my birthday but found myself in Manila this year. You know what’s more awesome? I wasn’t pissed that I stayed here. Is this me maturing? Haha

This year, I originally had plans to take the biggest trip of my life, fulfilling a lifelong impossible dream in the process. Sadly, that plan didn’t push through. It took time but I’ve made peace with that and decided to go on a “Bratty Birthday” trip instead. My choices were (1) a 3 day pure shopping trip in Bangkok or (2) a whole week in Singapore.
I had to leave Manila. The “Bratty Birthday” celebration meant feeling comfy and I had no plans of scrimping on accommodations. I ended up picking Singapore because the round trip tickets to Bangkok were P10,000 – P12,000 and I got my Singapore tickets for a little over P4,000.
My birthday fell on a Sunday and I decided to spend the actual day with my family. True to the tradition of being out of Manila for my birthday, this year was no different. I’ve headed to Tagaytay thrice for my birthday already so this time I wanted to visit another area. I was considering Pampnaga but eventually selected Patis Tito in San Pedro, Laguna.

I first stepped onto the vicinity of Toccare Spa last June for Kabbie’s bridal shower. It was organized by her friends so I didn’t know anything about the place. I’m not a big spa or massage person so it really isn’t my department. I didn’t have a lot of expectations going there.

In 2007, a new tradition was added - Owee and I became travel partners. Dumaguete was the 1st destination by plane for my birthday trip tradition and I don’t remember what made us fall for Dumaguete but it was memorable and a test of our friendship, in a funny way. Haha

Traveling for my birthday is my tradition. Before I start writing about the trip, I need a moment to share. Santorini has been my ultimate DREAM destination when I was younger. I didn’t speak much about it because I didn't want to say it out loud. I didn’t want people to know about it because I didn't want to have this thing hanging over my head - something I never did.

Hola! I wanted to post this on the last day of my birthday month but given certain circumstances, I couldn't. Anyway...a lot of people have been blogging about efforts for the Ondoy victims...Good job to everyone for doing their part in trying to help. =)
For this last postcard post, I'm taking you to Singapore! Which is where I was hiding the past couple of days and I just came back yesterday. That's how fresh these postcards are!

The sunrise that greeted me on my last day. In fairness, I'm rarely awake for sunrises. This photo wasn't photoshopped.
Singapore was an experiential birthday! =) I wasn't able to go around and take in culture as much as I wanted cos the race ate up most of my time. Anyhot, I'm looking forward to going back, taking in the other pieces and get to meet my friends based there. Haha =)
My 27th birthday definitely tops ALL the past celebrations. DAMN...how do I top this??? I keep on trying to top my birthdays every year hahaha

I had a couple of almost-happened, didn’t-happen and actually happened experiences during the trip that I wasn’t able to document! Ahk! Hay Life….The funnies continue in my last post about Siem Reap where you’ll read and see about laughter, songs and flexibility.

I’ve been itching and itching to blog. I finally found the time and made time for it. I hope that it will be helpful and you’ll take my word for it! Haha

I make it a point to CELEBRATE my birthday every year. Last year was one of the best celebrations EVER. It was my first time to have my birthday in another country with so many things planned! I was also crossing out something on my bucket list. (more on that in a later post!) This birthday also meant spending time with my sister and my SG-based cousin whom I haven’t had quality time in ages.
I’m starting the series with FOOD! How can I possibly go wrong with food? I honestly wasn’t expecting much since I’m not ecstatic about Singaporean food. Here are a couple of my cheap food finds in lovely Singapuh!

I like education. Yeah yeah nerd alert. I’ve been hunting for any class or course that would enrich me in my work and as a person. My research senses have been on high alert for marketing, writing, design, business and social media related courses to take. I consider them an investment in my future which is why I only want to take classes that I can directly apply to my work now.
Remember my photo walk provision? “A photo walk can be forgone in lieu of a class, lecture or an experience.” For my birthday month (teehee) I’m combining 2 things I love – food and photography. Say hello to birthday treat 1! (Were you able to read about birthday treats 2 and 3?)

Since I returned to blogging this 2016 – a lot of happy surprises have happened. Last month, I received another one. Ang Kaladkarin was nominated at the BlogEx Manila Awards 2016 for the “Best Blogger for Travel” category! I am part of a group that loves to wander and it is pretty cool.
