It's been an awfully quiet June on the blog

Why hello there! Are you still with me? I hope you are! I know I've been a bad blogger, I have tremendous backlog and I'm not yet finished with my epic birthday trip posts. It’s been 9 months and I'm just at the halfway point. I'm sorry! Besides that trip I still have Baguio, El Nido and Manila stories to write. My blog is looking like a food blog because since February, I haven’t been out much.

I don’t have a photo walk for June yet!!

I will be brutally honest. I've been having bouts of doubt. Blogging felt like work for the past few months. It's been hard for me to get my writing mojo back. Then this June, I got back in the "regular-work-as-in-being-office-based" fold. That's a big deal y'all! I haven’t been in that environment since 2006. My work for the past 8 years have been freelance or regular work but not office based so this a major life change for me.

After Riana's 13th Birthday AVP, I was able to work on her friend Dayan's debut invitation, Riana and Dayan met through skating. Besides the sport, Dayan is passionate about performing, dancing and singing thus her Broadway themed invitation.

Creating Cartwheel Images’ Welcome Guide

One of my best friends and business partner, Owee transferred to New Zealand last year. She left our black and white baby Blonde Fish with me while she started a new adventure with her husband in the land of sheep.

My fave lifestyle photographer has been busy setting up shop in her new home. She focused on the type of photography she wanted to specialize in and Cartwheel Images was born. As part of her rebranding, Owee asked me to help her create her welcome guide. What is a welcome guide you may ask? It’s a pack that Owee sends to her clients to get to know Owee and her services. It showcases her cheery and moving photos as well.

Branding Board: Hue Love Prints

Allow me to put my geek hat on. I have a soft spot for design but I don’t know how to draw to save my life. I turn to the computer to allow me to put the visuals in my mind to life.

I’ve always had a passion for typography, perhaps it’s because I can’t draw so I turn to text instead. I’ve been following Isabel Gatuslao's work for years and I am fascinated with it. I love how she shows us her work process and even the slightest different in typography or curve can make a massive difference.  I learned a lot from reading her blog entries and one of the lessons I got was making a branding board.

Pleasant Surprise: 9Works’ Sweet Charity (2011)

My friend Tin is the theater junkie; I’m a sporadic theater fan. We were talking about the musicals for 2011 and she mentioned that 9 Works was producing Sweet Charity. I decided to pass on it; I didn’t want to shell out cash. Fast forward to this August and I scored free tickets to the press night.

Boy was I glad I went!

I’ve been asked by people WHY did I buy that expensive pair of slippers?? The Havs craze was too expensive for some already and now these FitFlops?? I am a believer and you can read about it in the article below.

Why did I tag this as travel related? Give your feet a treat and use these babies while traveling, family and friends have sworn off tired legs and feet because of FitFlops! To date, around 6 pairs of FitFlops have found homes because of my suggestion. Hehehe =)

Rockeoke fund raising event on January 31

I was part of Take Me Out, the dating show on GMA-7 hosted by Jay R, and I've mentioned the show in my blog in the past. Just this January, our friend Andrea who was part of the show passed away. She was always a bottle of sunshine and I always had a great time whenever she was around. She's a big loss to the world....

Andeng was supporting the education of her youngest brother before she passed away. The Take Me Out family is planning fund raising events for her family. The first event is a ROCKEOKE event on January 31, 2011 at 8 PM at Status Lounge (Fort Strip).

Please please help us celebrate Andeng's life and see you on the 31st! Bring as many people as you'd like, do spread the word and buy as many tickets as you'd like! If you can't make it, feel free to get in touch with me if you'd still like to buy tickets to be able to help them out.
