Santorini’s Wine Museum Koutsoyannopoulos
Sunday, March 13, 2016
Who knew Santorini had a wine scene? I surely didn’t. When we were looking for things to do, all they had to do was say wine and we were down for that. The Wine Museum Koutsoyannopoulos was 2 bus rides away from our hotel.
The museum is filled with well preserved dioramas, paintings, and documents telling the journey of the Koutsoyannopoulos family and the wine history of Santorini. An audio guide is given to you at the beginning of the tour allowing you to explore on your own pace. It’s pretty cool that their audio guides are available in 14 languages.
Your €9 ticket comes with a free wine tasting at the end of the tour.
There are 4 different kinds of wine you can try: a red wine, white wine, dessert wine and a rose.
I wanted to bring home the rose and dessert wine with me but I was in the middle of my trip. It was difficult to lug around bottles of wine when I made my way through Italy and Germany.
If you’re looking for something to do while on the island and you are a massive wine fan, this is a tour you shouldn’t miss. It was worth the time, effort and vino.
