My Chocolate Picks in Metro Manila 2013

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

On my birthday, I picked a topic especially close to my heart (or thighs and hips) – chocolate! I was thinking of a good post for today and I had an aha moment when I thought of this list.

For fellow chocolate lovers, this list is for us! Click on the link for each item for a more in depth review.

Cold Drink: Cocoa Smoothie from Chatime
It is the right amount of sweetness to satisfy your craving. With Chatime branches popping up all over the metro, this drink is easy to find.

Hot Drink: Handcrafted Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa from Café Publico

Give me a cup of this on any cold day and it will make me instantly happy. Café Publico’s version is the perfect marriage of sweet and salty. Imagine your favorite cookie turned to a drink.

Alcoholic Drink: Serendipity from Borough
Hands down my fave chocolate alcoholic drink EVER. Weekdays Happy Hour from 6-8 PM are worth the visit for this baby alone. Heck, I would pay full price for this any day.

Royal Pudding: Chocolate from Chez Karine

I don’t have a photo of the chocolate version I got but it is lip-smacking incredible.

Bar: Turtle Cake from Annette’s Homemade Cakes and Goodies

Yes I am biased because she is my Ninang but it is a bar of heaven. No other turtle cake has matched the chunky and sugary bar Tita Annette makes. Ask any of my relatives and they will agree.

Cake: Chocolate Kahlua Cake from Café Chocolat

I got this cake on my birthday 3 years ago and it is heavenly. Combine Kahlua with a fudgy, rich and luscious cake and it’s the perfect cake for me.

Ice Cream, Plain: Chocolate Cake from The Cake Club
I went bonkers for The Diamond Hotel’s Chocolate Cake during a friend’s debut. Imagine my freak out moment when I discovered they turned the cake into ice cream. Madness!

Ice Cream, Combination: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough from Sebastian's
People will argue that Sebastian’s is over rated but I don’t believe that. One of the pioneers in Artisinal Ice Cream in the country, Sebastian’s flavors are never dull and always named wittily. They don’t have plain flavors like Cookies and Cream but have amazing pulsating flavors like Sebastian’s Smores, Up All Night, Nutrageous and Puto Bongbong.

Over-all: Chocolate Fire
It’s a chocolate lover’s playground.

Let me know if you have other delicious creations worth mentioning.
