Sweet Treats at Chez Karine Bakery

This sweet spot has been around for a year and yes, it took me this long to blog about it. The food scene in our country is just getting more fabulous especially with a lot of Filipinos who have studied and worked abroad, choosing to come home. Chef Karen Yang is one of them. 

 
Chez Karine amassed a following especially thanks to her macaroons and royal pudding. Since I didn’t want to gorge too much, I limited my picks to them.

Admittedly I have a sweet tooth and unfortunately it didn’t satisfy my craving. I did however taste the Chocolate Royal Pudding before and that was fabulous. I would most definitely go back for the Chocolate version.


Salted Caramel, Maple Bacon, Matcha Red Bean, Speculous, Black Sesame (P50 each)
The winner on this plate is the Salted Caramel Macaroon. The Speculous version didn’t taste like it and the bacon in Maple Bacon tasted more like dried Chinese beef. Despite that, there are more flavors to try and I will be back for them.  

Pot O’ Earl Grey Milk Tea
CBTL is my favorite place for hot milk tea and now, Chez Karine is also one of them. The bakery only has one kind of hot milk tea and it’s fantastic. One pot is the perfect blend of milk and tea and you could really taste the tea in it.


I am also a huge fan of the bakery’s design elements – the interiors, packaging and doodles are well thought of. The graphics are so pretty, I want items made out of them!

Chez Karine is worth the wait and the good reviews it has been getting. I will make an effort to visit it more often.
