Sunday Bike Day Photo Walk for August 2012

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

I grew up in Mandaluyong (yeah inside) and it will always have my heart. Now a Pasig dweller, I must admit I am not an active member of my community. However I am quite happy with the environmental changes my city implemented. Pasig is one of the cities that adopted “No Plastic Fridays” which eventually led to a “No Plastics” policy. There is also an e-jeepney roaming our streets but I don’t know if it’s still active.

The latest project Pasig introduced is the “Bike, Health and Carless Day” every Sunday. A portion of F. Ortigas Junior Road is closed every Sunday for bikers from 6 AM – 6 PM in support of the city’s health program.

I think they also have fitness/dance classes because sometimes my sleep would be interrupted by loud music with an instructor’s voice around 8 or 9 AM.

If you are not a bike owner don’t fret, there are assorted bikes for rent. I’ve wanted to check it out so I invited the usual suspect and we made a day out of it.

There are a few food stalls that bikers can enjoy.

Some Pasig employees just chillin.

It was wonderful to see people patronizing this event because it’s something I have a soft spot for. I hope that this program endures the test of time.

It really was a family day. At the start of my bike ride, I saw a Dad teaching his kid to bike. By the end of my bike ride, the kid was biking alone. Aaaawwwww!

There were a lot of foreigners. This family brought their own bikes which had this cute extension for the kiddos to strap in.

It was a hot, windy and pretty day to bike. Dontcha just love the blue sky?

After getting our fill of hot biking, the next stop in our itinerary was lunch at Kanto Freestyle Breakfast. Danix, Tre, Noel and I had an unforgettable lunch and swore we would go back.

The day wasn’t over. After biking and food consumption, it was time for shopping. Mwahahahaha Our next stop in today’s adventure was ETC’s bazaar at Ronac Art Center. It is a strikingly sculpted building along Ortigas Avenue that you can’t miss. Every corner and curve of the building is a well thought of idea paying homage to the background of the owners.

One word, picturesque. I loved seeing all the lines and shapes!

This is one Coffee Bean Branch that does not look like its siblings.

Insanely stunning.

I didn’t take any photos of the bazaar because we were too busy trying to resist temptation. I end this post with our group photo! Haha Can you spot who’s who?
