Take the first step to travelling the Philippines

Monday, September 10, 2012

You’ve always dreamt about traveling to the Philippines but never really did it. You’ve saved up enough money for adventure but afraid to take the first step? What do I do? Where should I go? How long should I take a leave for? There are several ways to ensure a less stressful vacation in the Philippines. If you’re a newbie to planning a trip, don’t fret. This article aims to help you out on your dilemma.

Research intensively.
To get the best bang for your buck, get as much information as you can. Read, watch, listen and do everything possible. There are a lot of airlines who offer regular promotions on their fares. Look for reliable travel magazines, websites, blogs and forums to equip you with all the necessary information for safe travel. Browse through the website’s articles, photos and videos to give you perspective.

Get in touch with a travel agency.
Before booking with any travel agency, check their reputation – make sure that you pick a travel agency that has a good track record. All your worries will melt away since the agency will take care of all the information and booking for your trip.

Ask for recommendations from friends and family.

If you’re not the type to favor tours or bookings through travel agents, perhaps doing it by yourself is the path for you. Since you know the people you ask information from, you also have a good idea of what kind of traveler they are. Ask advice from like minded travelers in order to get an adventure that you’d enjoy the most. Inquire about their accommodations and their itinerary to create the perfect itinerary for you. Nothing beats getting first hand information.

Determine your destination and dates of travel.

You have a plethora of cities and provinces to choose from! Indulge the mountaineer in you and head to the mountains for a good hike. If you want something relaxing, try researching for places where you can sit back, relax and soak under the sun. Always remember to check the weather when you’ve picked your dates. You don’t want to hit the beach when it’s typhoon season, ouch.

Will this be a solo, duo or group vacation?

There are travelers who thrive on embarking on the journey alone and others who love the company as well as the vacation. If it’s your first time to travel solo, pick a short vacation like a 3 day vacation package to immerse yourself slowly in the culture of solo vacationing.

Start with small trips first.

Some people look for the Amazing Race types of trips with several legs in different places.  Don’t take that path for your first trip. Try booking 3days-2 nights or 4days 3 nights trip to one destination first. Get a one of those Boracay packages to ease yourself into travelling.

Visit popular places.

There’s a reason why these tourist spots are popular, they’re simply magnificent! Besides that, more often than not there are infrastructures already in place in these destinations making arriving there easier. As a first time traveler, a visit to the Caramoan Islands might scare you since it entails several modes of transportation before being able to get there. Palawan and Bohol are some destinations that any beach loving traveler would adore. Davao and Cebu are great for people who seek the balance of city life and the beach.
Any traveler would be lucky to go to these places on their first trip.

Take the plunge and go on your adventure, it’s about time you get bitten by the travel bug.
