Iloilo Travel Guide Day 2 – Gigantes Islands Tour

Monday, August 26, 2024

Had to get my beach fix, so we sneaked it in. Guimaras Island is a 15-minute boat ride from city center and an easier day trip. Since I’ve been there already, I had my eyes set on Gigantes Islands.

Fun fact: Gigantes isn’t just one island—it’s a whole group of them! Expect a 3-4 hour van or bus ride plus a 45-90 minute boat ride from the city center, but trust me, the journey is totally worth it. 🚤✨

We booked our tour from
Gigantes Islands Tour and I highly recommend them. They have different tours available – day trip, overnight and even a 3-day 2-night package.  We decided to do the day trip (P1,099) because we didn’t want the hassle of packing, unpacking, packing, and unpacking again. They have a partner van service that picks you up at your hotel and brings you to the Bancal Port for P350 per way. I highly suggest getting this service for the easiest commute.

Cabugao Gamay
Cabugao Gamay is the most recognizable island in the tour because this is the island that is shown when you search for Gigantes Islands. Get your own snap from the view deck—it might be a popular shot, but trust me, it’s still a stunner.

I’m the type that would shoot first then swim. We were only allocated x number of minutes per stop so majority of my time was used shooting. I was only able to swim at our last stop.

Wouldn’t you want to stay longer too?

Bantigue Sandbar

Anonia Beach
The island’s got major points for having tons of shaded areas. Always a win when you need a break from the sun and still want to enjoy the scenery.

Mini Boracay
The water here was freaking amazing. Unfortunately, it was around 1:30 PM already and the whole group voted not to go down so that we could move forward to the next stop for lunch.

Lunch at Lantangan Beach
Unlimited scallops were part of the lunch since the Gigantes groups of islands are famous for it.

Tanke Lagoon
The Tanke Lagoon is giving Palawan vibes. It was a hot day but the water in the lagoon was cool. There are parts of the lagoon you can cliff dive from also.

Pulupandan Island
Can we talk about the way the sun hit the water in Pulupandan Island??? It was absolutely stunning I finally dove in.

Dinner at Theo’s Restaurant + Bakery
Our whole group in the van was asleep going back to the city. We were exhausted but happy and just went across our hotel for dinner at Theo’s Restaurant + Bakery. We loved our experience so much, went several times during the trip and it landed its own blog post. I gush about Theo’s here.

Ang ganda lang talaga ng Pilipinas! We covered so much in just a day. My only wish is that I wish I had more time. These places are insanely gorgeous and I would have wanted to spend more time in each spot. Here’s a friendly reminder: when you’re out on a tour, sprinkle some good vibes and tip your guides. They’re working hard to give you a top-notch experience.
