Art Deco Photo Walk in Manila

Thursday, April 03, 2025

I jokingly call this the UAAP school tour series since this were my 5th and 6th stop. (Check out my visits to Ateneo, La Salle, UP Diliman, and UST).

Huge thanks to Rob for inviting me on this Art Deco Photo Walk through FEU and UE. Never been to either campus before, so I didn’t know what to expect, especially with both schools right in the heart of the madness that is Morayta and Recto.

FEU is a huge campus in dense and chaotic Manila. It has incredible art, architecture, and works of National Artists - boom. What surprised me most was the peaceful greenery inside.

The Our Lady of Fatima Chapel has works by National Artists inside.

The stations of the Cross were painted by THE Botong Francisco. It was unfortunately being restored during our visit and we weren’t able to see it.

The Pieta by THE Napolean Abueva.

Some of my fave architectural spots in FEU

This hallway feels calm but it is right on Recto – totally hectic during weekdays.

More images of FEU

More art around the campus

We transferred to UE and met Lualhati

UE may have a more compact campus, but the real gem was the UE Theater just off-campus.

I couldn’t stop geeking out over its immaculate Art Deco restoration.

Bogsh, this is what it looks like inside.

These shots were taken pre-pandemic, but honestly, any good photo walk is food for my soul. So here they are, world 🤍

Now I’m craving a new photo adventure—any safe, cool spots you recommend?
