9 Airbnbs for Alone Time in Metro Manila

Monday, June 05, 2017

There are times when you need space for yourself. Whether it is to get things done, to unwind or re-energize. The last time I did that I was able to escape to Bohol just because it was cheaper thanks to P500 round trip airfare. My purpose was to get rid of my writer's block and plan for the blog. It was a successful trip and I was able to write a ton. I haven’t scored cheap airfare like that again so I’ve been thinking of getting away in the city through Airbnb. I’ve tried Airbnb in Rome and Florence but have yet to book here in the Philippines. I searched for listings in preferred cities here in Metro Manila and found properties that were affordable and looked amazing.

Mandaluyong: Scandinavian 1 bedroom (P3,318)
The property is listed in Mandaluyong but it is just across Rockwell. It’s location gives you a good excuse to check out Rockwell’s many restaurants, cafes and bars. The tower also provides a nice view of Makati.

Manila: Chic Modern Flat (P2,245)
I already know I can get a lot of work done here because of its pristine and chic interiors providing just the right amount of calm to keep me focused. The flat is on the 30th floor giving you an unobstructed view of the city. If you do decide to step out of this white haven, there is so much to do and see in Manila!  I love this city despite its obvious challenges and grit.

Quezon City: Cozy and Convenient 1 bedroom (P1,472)
Sometimes you just need to step away. This unit in Eastwood may not be intricately decorated as the others but it is spacious and conducive to hibernate in. If you finish your hibernation early, enjoy what Eastwood City has to offer.

Ortigas: Bright and Airy Studio (P1,996)
I am not afraid of color. The white interiors with pops of green and blue attracted me to this studio. The interiors of this condo look like it came from a magazine. It’s walking distance from recently opened Ayala 30th Mall so it’s fairly easy to pop by in case you need anything.

BGC: McKinley Loft (P2,395)
For its location this listing is actually affordable. Properties in BGC are usually on the high side. Need a break while working? You can easily go down and walk around to find a myriad of things to see, experience and consume.

Makati: Dreamy Gramercy Studio (P2,345)
Most women would love a space like this. Light streams beautifully into this purple and white studio. Located on the 58th floor, you may not want to leave once you see the view.  If you do, Century Mall is just below.

Makati: Value for money Greenbelt studio (P1,587)
I will say it, this one is my favorite. It ticks the box in all 3 things I was looking for: location, budget and interiors. At P1,587 per night in San Lorenzo, this listing had everything I wanted. It had enough space for me to work and sleep. I could easily jog safely in the area or try the neighborhood cafes. This listing gets booked very easily so once you know your dates, book asap and in advance.

Makati: Travel themed studio (P1,553)
This studio is a bit smaller than the other Makati studio but I appreciate the minimalist travel design. It is decorated well considering the simple rectangular layout of the unit.

Makati: Splurge Greenbelt Loft (P3,293)
This unit is always booked and it’s fairly easy to see why. A 46 sqm unit is considered big by today’s standards. I love this so much that even though this isn’t exactly my style – I can picture myself living here. It has various elements that I’m saving for my future home. If I was holed up here, I don’t think I would want to leave.

There are cheaper and more expensive options in Airbnb. It all depends on your preference and budget. With these options even if you do not have staycation plans, it makes you want to create plans!
