Our favorite corned beef opens Delimondo Store and Cafe

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

When Delimondo was this little unknown brand, my Mom was able to get her hands on it. Since that day we've never used another brand here at home. Delimondo Ranch Style Corned Beef is a staple in our cupboard. Imagine my excitement when I found out the well loved brand had its own cafe! If their café food is as good as their signature corned beef, then I’m down with that.

The interiors are bright, uncomplicated and inviting. It's the perfect spot and setting to begin your day on a pleasant note.

I called my Mom because for SURE she would want something from the store. I came for their signature corned beef and you can buy SO MUCH MORE. Foodies will go wild with their marinades, sauces, dips, dressings, sausages and meats.

Delimondo Store and Cafe's menu is sparse. During my visit they had 4 main courses plus a selection of drinks and dessert. It was unfortunate that the one dish I wanted to try was unavailable – The Corned Beef Calderata Lasagna. Yes, that is just one dish! The Café has since added Chorizo Carbonara and Croque Madame.

Luncheon Meat Kimchi Rice (P120)
I stay away from anything that says kimchi because my tolerance level is low. I could easily take this dish on, it was kimchi light.

Spicy Tinapa Fried Rice (P120)
This was surprisingly spicier than the Kimchi Rice. The tinapa was deliciously salty and soft. It went well with all the elements in the bowl. I just wish there were more tinapa pieces because it really was on point.

Cappuccino 12 0z. (P55)
That was a big ass cup but it lacked the power of coffee. Delimondo’s Cappuccino was on the bland side. This is one area I do hope they would improve on.

Barako Cheesecake Mini (P200)
When I ordered the cake, I didn’t see the price. Who would have thought it was more expensive than my rice meal and coffee? I desperately wanted to try the famed Petra’s Chocolate Cake but it was already sold out. They did not scrimp on the coffee and it made its presence felt to my delight. I am not a cheesecake person but this one has my seal of approval.

In general the portions are smaller than the usual American sizes. If I did not have coffee and dessert, my lunch would have been bitin. For the price though, the portioning is not bad. For a meal for 2, I would probably go for 3 dishes.

It was a gorgeous afternoon despite the rain. The café was filled with beautiful natural light perfect for catch up sessions with your girlfriends, an early lunch date, and a good meal with the family. I may not be in Makati much but I am excited to come back and try their new dishes.
