Delicious eating without the guilt at Hillside Café and Juice Bar

For someone who doesn’t love vegetables, I love exploring Vegan or healthy restaurants. For me, if it’s good for you and a carnivore like me approves – that’s a good thing!  I’ve always wanted to try Hillside Café and Juice Bar since it opened in 2015.  Powered by the people behind Pipino and one of the founders of Flow Resorts, I knew this was bound to be a delicious journey.

Step inside the café’s light and inviting interiors of Hillside Café and Juice Bar. You can enjoy an assortment of good vibes dishes and drinks at Hillside. All their juices sounded incredibly tempting and our table ordered 3 types and loved them all.

Clean and Green (P155)
Digestive balance, anti-inflammatory, alkalizer, made with kale, pineapple, cucumber, celery, ginger

Vanilla Creamsicle (P155)
protein rich, heart-friendly, made with cashew milk, almond milk, dates, vanilla hemp protein, vanilla

Citrus Crush (P155)
Immunity booster, lowers cholesterol, skin cleanser, made with orange lime and lemon

Pumpkin Soup (P75)
Puree of baked squash, white onion, vegetable stock, butter, oil, paprika, topped with coconut milk
A bowl of piping hot soup came to our table and it still had smoke. Oddly enough when we did try the soup, it was hot but you would not get burnt. Their version of Pumpkin Soup was very thick and flavorful despite not having any cream. The coconut milk gave this classic soup a different twist.

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup (P235)
Three types of cheese, buttered sourdough, served with creamy tomato-coconut soup for dipping
How can combining 3 kinds of cheeses be healthy for you? I have no idea but if you’re on the lookout for a grilled cheese sandwich without the guilt, you should try this one.

Eggplant Parmigiana (P235)
Baked layers of eggplant, fresh basil, tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan cheese, olive oil, served with mixed greens and potato wedges
The combination of ingredients contributes to a pasta dish that is full of flavor. Hillside’s Eggplant Parmigiana is a good bet for people that are way about going all the way vegan or healthy.

Falafel Soft Tacos (P215)
Two pieces, served with cilantro, brown rice, black beans, salsa, garlic yoghurt sauce, pesto, tomato and lettuce
I absolutely love falafels and knew upon seeing this in the menu that this is what I wanted.  Out of everything we tried this was hands down my favorite. It was a filling and satisfying without compromising taste. I may not like black beans but it was complimentary to all the other elements so I happily gobbled it all.

People may think that just because a place serves healthy food, it means it is dreary and unsavory. That is not the case here. They do not sacrifice flavor for good food. Hillside Café and Juice Bar is officially carnivore approved! It easily lands into my top 5 list of healthy restaurants in Metro Manila. The café’s atmosphere is the perfect spot to unwind and have a good meal with amazing people.
