Seeking the Big Bad Wolf

Nix was in town for vacay and we took her out for lunch. I asked her, do you want something shi-shi or chill? Surprise me she said. I saw photos of Big Bag Wolf in the Fort and it’s been on my hit list. It also seemed perfect for our lunch date with Nix. Serendipitously, the restaurant had a deal on one of the coupon sites and we got a good deal. To be honest I was attracted to the restaurant for its mix of modern vintage interiors more than the food (just like Subspace).

You need to hunt for Big Bad Wolf since it is located at the back portion of Fairways Tower. We had the restaurant all to ourselves and took turns taking photos. There is a lot of interesting knick knacks sprawled around the place – art, books, board games and memorabilia. I don’t have a photo of the bathroom but it is pretty nice as well.

Pesto Rubbed Chicken Salad (P220)
We’re a pesto loving bunch. The salad had several layers of flavours ranging from tangy, fresh and smoked that all worked together to begin the meal on the right foot.

Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup (P245)
Gruyere, white bread, honey, lots of butter.

I fell madly in love with Borough’s version and wanted to check how Big Bad Wolf’s dish would fair. The Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup was waaaaay to sweet for my liking. The grilled cheese seemed to be a cross between a cheese sandwich and kaya toast – individually great but put together not favourable.

Dirty Rice

Chorizo Spaghetti (P260)
Chorizo, shitake mushrooms, olives, sundried tomatoes.

Ang bango. Fragrant!  Dry pasta ito na masarap. Maalat sya in a good way.
When the Chorizo Spaghetti plopped down on our table it left a trail aromatic goodness.   Being a dry pasta dish, I was ecstatic as I tasted the salty and meaty flavour of the dish infused to the spaghetti.

Grainated Pork Tenderloin (P305)
Pork tenderloin, mozzarella, shitake mushrooms, sautéed spinach.

Grainated Pork Tenderloin, say whut? I’ve never came across a dish like this thus the interest. I didn’t have any expectations and had an open mind. The pork tenderloin was a joy to eat with its juiciness. You need to gobble all of the elements together to have the best taste experience.

Fried Lasagna (P245)
Creamy and crunchy all rolled into one pasta dish? Yes, it’s possible. The inventive take on a classic was an experience on its own. It tasted exactly like lasagna but crispy; it delivered exactly what it said on the menu.

The triumphant dish for me was the Chorizo Spaghetti while my lunch mates proclaimed the Grainated Pork Tenderloin as their champion.  The Big Bad Wolf holds regular events for art, music and poetry. Besides interesting lunch dates with beloved cousins, I would recommend The Big Bad Wolf for a relaxing dinner with drinks among friends or family.
