A lackluster visit to Saint’s Alp Katipunan

Friday, June 01, 2012

Would you be surprised if I told you this is another Berenice date? Haha We share the love for tea but her love is deeper. On one of her trips abroad, she encountered Saint’s Alp and fell in love with it. Berenice spoke especially highly of the place so we made our way to Katipunan just to visit Saint’s Alp.

Cheesy Tempura Balls (P90)

Breaded Chicken and Pork Chop (P195)
I absolutely love Shi Lin’s Fried Rice with Chicken Chop so I had high hopes for Saint’s Alp’ version. Sadly, the chicken and pork chops paled in comparison.

Matcha Yogurt (P135)
This was the oddest yogurt drink I’ve seen in the longest time. When this was delivered to the table, we both thought they made a mistake. The Matcha Yogurt had a fruit tea like consistency when we expected a drink that looked like Yogurt. It continued on to be baffling as only a hint of matcha was detected in the drink.

Almond Milk Tea (P115)
I do like milk tea but their version of the Almond Milk Tea tasted more like milk than tea.

I had envisioned myself loving Saint’s Alp as much as my love for the other tea places. Could it have been an off day at the Katipunan Branch? Berenice was shocked with the items we tried since they were nowhere near the loveliness she had in Hong Kong.
