Hip and cozy Catabolic Cafe in Quezon City
Wednesday, April 27, 2016
On a Sunday morning, Catabolic Cafe fills up fast. The much talked about cafe with industrial and charming interiors has gotten good reviews since opening their doors in 2015. Is the buzz surrounding it all hype or is it real?
Kudos to the team behind the cafe because there are a lot of instagrammable nooks in Catabolic. The pop of sea foam green door is a crowd favorite. More than the cafe’s design, people flock to Catabolic for the food and coffee. It offers a mix of comfort Filipno food and a few classic Pinoy dishes with a twist.
It can get a bit noisy when the place is filled. I would suggest making a reservation because Catabolic can seat roughly 20 people or so and if you travelled all the way to QC, the visit better be worth it. I like the inventive food creations of Catabolic Cafe and enjoyed our stay here. If you need a good place in Teacher’s Village, Catabolic Cafe is worth the visit.

Hot Flat White (P130)
Bibingka Waffle
I like Bibingka which is why this dish spoke to me. I was fairly surprised that it came with 2 waffles instead of 1.

Pares Rice with Crispy Tadyang (P350)
My favorite thing about this pairing is the rice, it really tasted like pares. The tadyang though was disappointingly not crispy during our visit. It’s the one thing that they could improve on.

Fried Chicken and Waffles (P330)
The butter that comes with the waffle is not your usual butter; it’s strawberry butter and it works immensely well with the waffles and chicken. A serving of this is a bit much for an average women’s appetite but would probably fill up a guy.

Kimchi Fried Rice (P315)
True to its Korean roots, this bowl of Kimchi Fried Rice is on the spicy side. People who love Korean food will fall in love with this dish. The pork with the dish is supposed to taste like liempo but it tasted more like crispy pata which is still a good thing.
