International Heritage Month 2014 – Manila Edition

Thursday, May 22, 2014

I have a lot of back log. Writing about this completely will take time so here’s a heads up. It’s International Heritage Month and because of that my cousin Paola and I went museum hopping. The best news? They were for free!

The Metropolitan Museum of Manila offers FREE tours every Thursday and Saturday at 10 AM and 2 PM. Entrance fee is usually P150 for adults. Grab this opportunity while you can because they haven’t decided until when the promotion is available. You’ll see works of National Artists like Napoleon Abueva and contemporary artists like Nona Garcia, Geraldine Javier and Kidlat Tahimik.

I’ve been to the National Museum and if you want to see THE Spolarium in person, this is the month to go. The National Museum is offering free entrance for the whole month of May in celebration of Heritage Month.  Be in awe of the works Felix Hidalgo, Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo, Vicente Manansala and sssssoooo much more. Quick tip, go to see the restored Senate Hall – IT IS LOVE! I got a glimpse of it while it was being restored so it’s nice to see the finished product.

Make sure to follow the Facebook Pages of both museums to get the latest news and promotions. A longer blog post about both museums will happen in the next few weeks. Watch out for that!
