Blondes have more fun with Davines’ Alchemic Red

I absolutely love The Beauty Department. I don’t use make up every day but with the site’s easy and user friendly articles, it made me want to try it out. It is my go to site especially for hair. I love saving different hair pegs for various occasions. It is also on this site where I first read about the effect of Davines’ Alchemic Red conditioner on blonde hair.

The concept is simple, this conditioner is actually for redheads – whether you’re a natural red head or dyed your hair. When used on blonde hair, it gives blonde locks a temporary tone of red or pink. This conditioner isn’t available here in Manila so I had to ask a favor from my US based friend. A jar retails for $20-30.

1. Shampoo your hair.
2. Rinse your hair and towel dry. (I waited a few minutes before proceeding to #3).
3. Apply the conditioner.
4. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes.
5. Rinse.

To ease myself into this new color, I did the easiest thing (I thought) I could do – dip dyed tips! Initially, I just used my hands to apply the conditioner and left it for 15 minutes. I had patches of hair with just a hint of pink. Haha It was so funny.

For my second try, I decided to use tools instead for a better result.

Since I was unsatisfied with the tint of my first try, I left the conditioner on for almost an hour. Haha

Be warned, it stains a bit. Here’s my towel when I was drying my newly tinted hair. If you accidentally drop some of the conditioner on your bathroom tiles, it’s best to wipe it right away.

This temporary fix works best on light colored hair though I did see someone with brown hair try it out.

Viola, colored tips!

The color isn’t permanent and usually lasts for 3-4 washes. I love this conditioner! I enjoyed playing with hair without resorting to chemicals or an expensive visit to the salon.

You guys know I can get experimental with my hair. I am living my hair color dreams this year! From purple to pink! What’s next for me? I plan to apply the conditioner to my whole head to get a red tint for a change. I also have some teal hair chalk that hasn’t been road tested.

Stay tuned for that!
