Authentic Italian at Va Pensiero
Saturday, March 19, 2011My friends and I found ourselves in Gateway which is a place we don’t usually frequent so we wanted to look for an-only-in-Gateway restaurant to have lunch in. Luckily, we were able to find one – Va Pensiero.
The restaurant wasn’t packed on a Saturday lunch which gave us the perfect ambiance to catch up. The owner of Va Pensiero is the palette behind the success of Amici before it was sold. The Chef (eeeppp forgot his name) really is Italian and trained under the best. Va Pensiero claims to be the authentic Italian restaurant.
However, the server was pretty masungit. We were feeling cold and there were only 2 tables being served, we asked if the air conditioner could be turned off or the louver be turned another way. Her reply? “Mam naka fixed na yan.” Apparently it can’t be moved. Which is of course a lie. After 2 requests, she eventually turns it off. Then after a while, she turns it backs on. (Labo.)
We were just 3 girls, their appetites are even smaller than mine, so we ordered 1 pizza and 1 pasta to make room for dessert.
Tagliatelle with Tomato Sauce, Black Olives, Basilico Our Italian Sausage and Parmasean
I expected the sauce to be thick but that wasn’t the case; it was runny and didn’t fuse with the noodles. Also the olives were bland but the sausage was excellent. I wouldn’t recommend this dish because it lacked in taste power.
My review seems 50-50! Haha However, I would go back to Va Pensiero. They had a lot of things on their menu and I would like to give them another chance. Plus, their pizza was THAT good.
