It’s July once more and for the lucky few, it’s the start of the travel period of airline promos. Have your ticket in hand and get ready to board the nearest flight to Malaysia, Truly Asia!
KLCC
Make sure to visit KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) in the heart of the capital. Spend a day there and you can cross off many activities part of your itinerary. The famous Petronas Twin Towers call this home. These babies were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 – 2004. If you’d like to take part of the tour, you have to visit them early to get tickets. There are tours throughout the day but they give away the tickets in the morning.
After checking out the towers go down under and marvel at the beauty of Aquaria. Take a journey under world and be inches away from sharks, sea horses, nemo (!) and the abundance of wonders Aquaria has to offer.
Head on over to Suria KLCC for shopping and food tripping. It is imperative that you try Lecka Lecka’s impeccable ice cream concoctions. Spot the red lips and waywardly tongue and you’re there! The only problem you’ll have is what flavor to choose. We bought from Lecka Lecka around 4 times during our whole trip. We just couldn’t get enough of it.
Suria can be compared to Ayala’s Greenbelt Malls for it houses loads of high end brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. There are also the usual suspects like Topshop, Mango and Malaysia bred shoe brand Vincci (here in the Philippines, it’s called VNC baby!). Before spending your hard worked dough, visit their concierge. Grab a copy of the mall map for easy navigation as well as apply for the tourist discount (check if this is still available). What’s that you say? When we were there, all we had to do was present our passport/ID and we were given a discount card. Use the card to avail of discounts at participating stores at the mall.
It would be nice to spend the day at KLCC. The Petronas Towers are beautiful during the day and lovely at night. I remember while we were in Malaysia I’d wake up every day, stare at the window and smile at the towers. Would occasionally wave from time to time too! It is a symbol of inspiration. Get fabulous photos of the towers during the day; then after a day of exploring and dinner, take a snapshot of its beauty at night.
FASHION
Sniffing around the city we were able to discover a shoe trove, Nose. Their shoes are comparable to Schu and VNC but closer to the price range of Celine. Try to pass by Voir and Soda for delectable clothes.
Now onto bigger things – make sure to visit the stores under the Padini Group. This Malaysian empire is similar to our very own Bench Family. They have different labels that cater to different occasions and demographics. Expect trendy and drool worthy pieces from this group. From clothes you can sparkle in, casual pieces, office clothes, as well as clothes for mom-to-be, kids, men and women – the Padini group has a brand for you. Popular shoe brand Vincci (VNC) is part of the Padini Family.
Hold on to your seats before reading this, Vincci is 40 – 60% cheaper in Malaysia. I scored 4 pairs for myself and bought more pairs as pasalubongs for fellow shoe addicts. No matter where we went, as long as we spotted a Vincci store, we’d beeline towards it.
