A Scent Stop in Kapitolyo: Inside Saan Saan’s Studio-Store

Sunday, March 15, 2026

Kapitolyo has long been known for its steady lineup of restaurants, brunch spots, and cafés. It is the kind of neighborhood you visit hungry and leave already planning your next meal. But tucked in between all that comfort food and caffeine is a different kind of discovery.

In the middle of Kapitolyo’s endless food spots, I found something that doesn’t involve a menu.

Saan Saan will tickle your senses the moment you step inside. Before you even reach the shelves, you are greeted by the soft scent of incense lingering near the entrance. Their in-house fragrances range from familiar classics to distinctly Filipino blends that instantly evoke a memory. The kind that makes you pause and go, wait… I know this smell.

You’ll spot recognizable aromas like No. 33 Teahouse and No. 10 Kung Tag-araw on the shelves, alongside distinctly local blends like No. 45 Talyer. Some feel light and comforting, others lean deeper and more nostalgic. You can enjoy them however you prefer, as candles, incense, or diffusers, depending on how you like to scent your space.

The space itself mixes industrial finishes with warm wood and organic textures. Concrete floors meet wooden shelves lined with neatly arranged jars and boxed incense. It feels elevated but never intimidating. There is also a modest selection of curated books that adds to the quiet, thoughtful atmosphere. The staff were happy to walk us through the different scent profiles and answer every question we had, which makes exploring even more enjoyable.

If you are café hopping in Kapitolyo, consider this your sign to add a scent stop in between meals. Visit Saan Saan, take your time testinsg the fragrances, and find the one that feels like home.
