Slow Coffee Moments at Kubo by Kape de Filipina Ortigas

Thursday, November 06, 2025

In the middle of Ortigas’ glass towers and weekday rush, I stumbled upon a café that felt refreshingly unhurried. Warm wood tones, quiet chatter, and the scent of freshly brewed coffee created a small pause amid the business district buzz.

Inside, about twenty or so seats fill a cozy space that feels intentional yet easygoing. It’s intimate but not cramped, modern but still distinctly Filipino. The café puts Filipino coffee front and center, using specialty beans. It’s a nice touch that makes it stand out from the usual chain cafés in the area.

Iced Taho Latte (₱210)
Silky soy milk, floral pandan arnibal, chewy sago, and a smooth single-origin espresso shot.
It sounded like a nostalgic twist I couldn’t skip. I was hoping for stronger taho vibes, but it leaned a bit more on the milky side. The arnibal flavor was quite subtle, though the small, chewy sago pearls were a fun and thoughtful addition. What stood out most was the espresso itself—bold, smooth, and clearly made with quality beans. While this version of the taho latte could use more depth, I’d still come back to try their other creations.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich (₱395)
Two kinds of cheese layered between slices of golden sourdough and served with a side of tomato soup.
On their own, the sandwich and soup were fairly straightforward, but together, they just clicked. Comforting, balanced, and just indulgent enough to feel like a treat without being heavy.

If you’re after a breather from the usual restaurants around Rockwell Business Center Ortigas, this one’s a refreshing find. My parents loved it too, which tells you everything you need to know. Good food, good coffee, and a space that feels easy to return to.
