Grifoni’s brings their Italian flavors from Siargao to Manila

Siargao famous Kermit made their way to Manila and opened Italian restaurant --- Grifoni’s. Their first branch is located in BGC with the second one popping in the Podium Mall in Mandaluyong.

To be honest I completely forget Grifoni’s was also by the people that brought us Kermit. We made reservations for Mother’s Day in the Podium branch and understandably busy.  One con though was that tables were close together. There were times we had to stand for people from the other table to pass. Proof of how cramped the restaurant was, I couldn’t even get an interior shot. Heck we didn’t even get to have a family photo taken. The wait staff also weren’t as friendly as I had hope for.

Grifoni's Salad (P595)
Salad with our homemade mango vinaigrette topped with Seared Tuna in EVOO
I enjoyed the mango vinaigrette. It’s one of those dressings that I would buy if it were sold in a bottle.

Ravioli alla Tartufata (P595)
Homemade ravioli filled with mashed potatoes in truffle cream, grated parmesan, topped with prosciutto
Anything with prosciutto is a check in my book. The truffle in the pasta was lighter than I expected. I would have enjoyed this more if it were more truffle forward.

Pizza Al Proscuitto Di Parma (P730)
13-inch white based pizza, mozzarella, topped with parma harm, parmigiano & arugala
Though the pizza was good, it was not the best. I would actually prefer Gino’s over this one.

THE Steak and Risotto (P2,195)
250 grams Ribeye OR 300 grams SIRLOIN of grass-fed Argentinian Bolzico beef, chimichurri and served with Risotto al Parmigiano and shiitake mushrooms.
Without a doubt the standout for us was THE Steak and Risotto. It was done exceptionally well and the risotto was divine. I had a good laugh days after when I remember this was by Kermit because the mushroom risotto in Kermit Siargao was also one of our faves when we went to the island. If you only order one thing from Grifoni’s – let it be this one.

Espresso Martini (P360)
Stoli Vodka, Espresso Shot, Kahlua

Gin Basil Smash (P350)
Tanqueray Gin, Lemon] Basil, Sugar

Despite the cramped setting and the less than stellar service that night, the Steak and Risotto made up for it. I would go back just to have that again and perhaps try more items on the menu.
