6 reasons to stay at Cabo de Roca Zambales

Cabo de Roca in San Antonio Zambales is a family and barkada friendly getaway just 3-4 hours away from Manila. For this beach trip we had kids with us and it covered the trifecta of chill, comfort, and affordability.

1. The property is expansive.
I like that the resort did not maximize their land by building a bagillion rooms.

2. Meet new friends
It’s not what you think. As mentioned in #1 the property is expansive and there are different animals roaming. Feel free to say mabuhay to the ducks, peacocks, etc.

3. The rooms are spacious.
We stayed in the Casa do Faro Surf Suite 1 (P5300 + VAT) and we were just 2 people. It could easily and comfortably accommodate 4 guests. The rooms are also well designed with a beach boho vibe.

4. They have a pool.
When you have kids with you it’s important to have a pool.

5. The beachfront.
Their beachfront is well maintained and it was not crowded. Then again we visited on a weekday so it be because of that too.

6. Last but not the least, EPIC SUNSETS.
Was speechless during sunset. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights and each day showcased a different show.

Though we had an awesome time, here are some things that could have been improved on:
1. Our bathroom.
The bathroom was huge but it had a lot of wasted space. The tub had a huge crack in the middle and they tried their best to fix it. However, when you step on it, it WILL go down. We had to stand in a specific way to bathe safely.

2. Food is pre-order.
So you can’t change your mind or add on the spot. In our case, we ended up over ordering because the we weren’t familiar with their portions. We had so much leftovers that we ended up cancelling our order for our last dinner. Order cancellations are allowed at least 24 hours beforehand.  We spent around P8,000 on food for 3 adults and 2 kids for 3 days and 2 nights.

3. Reception and service has a schedule.
As mentioned in 2, the kitchen operations are scaled down compared to bigger resorts. Reception is not open 24 hours. This is okay for me but to some it might be a deal breaker. In any case, the team we’re pretty hospitable and warm – always with a smile.

It is important to share that the San Antonio beach goes deep fast – in Filipino “biglang lalim”. This was one of the reasons we spent majority of the time in the pool with the kids.

If you’re looking for chill beach getaway 3-4 hours away from Manila, Cabo de Roca may be the spot for you.
