* This class is no longer available.

Piloxing is fairly new in the country. So, what is it exactly? “Uniquely blending two of the industry's most powerful and timeless disciplines of Pilates and Boxing, PILOXING SSP adds a third element of dance into this high-energy interval workout. This dynamic program moves through heart-pumping, powerful boxing combinations to sculpting and lengthening Pilates-influenced movement to 'let yourself GO' dance releases, and back around again. Never have you enjoyed sweating so much.” (Source)

I was introduced to it by Dyan Manaloto the instructor. Back story, when I decided to be active someone invited me to try free Zumba classes at GCF. Dyan was the instructor then. I learned to like Zumba because of her and even when the Zumba classes at GCF stopped, I took her classes at other studios. Dyan returned to offering free classes at GCF but this time, she was teaching Piloxing.

Why should you try it?
1. it’s free.
Let’s face it – money is a serious consideration in general. Nobody wants to spend on something they won’t enjoy or like. Go ahead and take one class to see if it’s an activity that fits you.
2.Get ready for a challenging workout.
Zumba was the perfect way to introduce me to working out since I needed to start moving. It was fun and can make you sweat. Piloxing is low impact but more intense. I can feel the difference. I was working out muscles I didn’t know existed.
3. Geographically accessible
For people who live and work in Ortigas this class is convenient. You do not need to spend extra money for transportation or take up too much time to get there.
4. Positive energy
Even though the class can get intense, it won’t kill you. Dyan is encouraging but will not baby you. Our class is a good mix of students in their 20s and even 40s and 50s. It’s not an intimidating class.

Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday at GCF Ortigas. I highly suggest being in leggings because there are a lot of balancing poses. It is best to bring your own yoga mat and have socks with rubberized soles or grip. You can find these socks at most department stores or try Toesox. Just ask for socks for Pilates. You may also opt to do the workout barefoot.

You may add or message Dyan on Facebook for more questions about the class and her other classes at Gold’s Gym.
