A Garlicky Birthday at Mad for Garlic

*** This is a guest post.

For those of you who follow me on instagram, you might recognize some of these images from my birthday a few months back.  I still can't get Mad for Garlic out of my head and would like to share our dining experience with you.

Mad for Garlic is a Korean franchise that specializes in Italian dishes that use a whole lot of garlic in different ways.  As you step into the restaurant you will notice the wine bottles that are displayed along the walls and the various garlic decorations staying true to their wine and garlic theme.

Dracula Killer (P195)
Soft garlic bread served with garlic cooked in olive oil and anchovies
When I was researching about Mad for Garlic, the Dracula Killer was the one thing that I couldn't forget so we ordered that for starters.  If you love butter and garlic, you should not skip this one.

Fresh Spinach Salad (P295)
Fresh spinach salad with fried garlic and bacon slices with aromatic balsamic dressing
This salad had me at bacon.  I was blown away by the generous serving of crisp garlic chips which I munched on.

Dancing Salsa Rice with Steak (P295)
Garlic rice served with wine-marinated beef, topped with fresh bean sprout and fried egg
The Dancing Salsa Rice with Steak landed on the table looking like this.

The server offered to mix it up for us.  We asked him to set aside the jalapeños as ome of us may not be able to handle the heat.  The beef was tender and the rice dish was pretty ok.

Garlicholic Rice (P325)
Special fried rice with sauteed shrimp and vegetables
This was good; I loved the serving plate and that they did not scrimp on the shrimps.

Crab and Lobster Pasta (P475)
Garlic cream sauce pasta with crab and lobster meat
This photo does not look like much but the Crab and Lobster Pasta was so creamy and delicious, I've never tasted anything like this before.

Garlic Snowing Pizza (P545)
Mad for Garlic special sauce topped with shrimp, pineapple and fried sliced garlic
I always pawn off pineapples to my hubby when they appear on my pizza but for this one I ate them all.  Oddly enough this combination worked for me and I liked the crunch of the crust as well.

Grilled Chicken and Mushroom (P395)
Risotto cooked with spinach and three kinds of mushroom topped with grilled chicken
This was my favorite dish from this meal. Even though it had the lowest spice level, it was extremely hot but yummy spicy nonetheless.  I couldn't stop eating the risotto even if it was burning up my mouth.  You can request for a lower spice level or even remove the spices altogether but it could alter the flavor of the dish as explained by the restaurant's manager. Well i think he was the manager as he was dressed differently from the rest.

If not for the Wildflour goodies from my cousins, I would have gone straight for the Garlic Sprinkle Gelato. Yes you read it right, even their dessert has garlic!

If you love garlic and spicy food, you must try this restaurant.  Order the Dracula Killer, Crab & Lobster Pasta and Grilled Chicken & Mushroom Risotto.  Do come prepared with breath mints.

Oh and we got to take home our leftovers in this adorable box.  Sure beats lugging around a brown paper bag or plastic bag while walking around high street.
