More than hangover food at Recovery Food

Thursday, August 01, 2013

Recovery Food has garnered a reputation for being a good place to nurse a hangover. This 24 hour restaurant by the same people behind Mamou serves Filipino comfort food including, my favorite tapa. On a trip to BGC, Danix and I started our June photo walk by having lunch here.

Dalandan Juice (P99)
A bottle of juice is enough for 2 girls.

Amadobo (P180)
Old fashioned adobo with organic Adobo rice (brown or white)
The Adobo meat is incredibly soft that it melts in your mouth and is every bit the Adobo we love and grew up with. There’s only 1 brand of brown rice I like – Jasponica because it’s the closest to white rice I’ve tasted. Recovery’s brown rice is similar to Jasponica which I love. It helps that the rice had Adobo sauce in disguising the usual rough texture of brown rice.

Tapa de Morning (P180)
Homemade tapa, scrambled or fried egg, ensalada, organic plain rice (brown or white)
This was the reason why we decided to eat here. It was my first time to try tapa with a bit of creaminess which threw me off a bit. However, it still tasted like tapa.

The whole Adobo experience over shadowed my love for Tapa. Danix on the other hand still preferred the Tapa. For a reasonably priced meal in the BGC area, Recovery Food is a definite must try. I will be back for more.
