Not Just for the Aesthetic: This Katipunan Café-Bar Is Serving Vibes and Legit Coffee
Friday, May 23, 2025You’ll miss it if you’re not looking — Dear Darling sits quietly inside one of the buildings along Katipunan Avenue. It's a café by day, bar by night — it’s warm, vibrant, and feels exactly like the hug you didn’t know you needed.
Espresso, orange pulp and juice, simple syrup, orange wedge, egg white
The Orange Coffee, with its balanced citrus kick and smooth espresso base, was easily a standout.
Lemon, simple syrup, tonic water
Porkchops glazed with a sweet and smokey barbeque sauce. Served with chive rice.
The Skillet Barbeque Pork was flavorful and generous (sauce = essential), though the plate could use more greens.
Homemade four-cheese ravioli, cooked in a creamy vodka sauce
The Cheese Ravioli in tomato sauce was flavorful but leaned a bit rich — definitely best shared.
Lean sirloin steak topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms. Served with crispy hash browns, and eggs.
Sadly, the Steak and Eggs missed the mark — a bit too tough for our liking.
Three pieces of fried pastry dough stuffed with a sweet cream cheese filling. Topped with spicy candied walnuts and chocolate chips.
Good thing the Cannoli came through: not too sweet, not too rich, just right.
We’ve all been burned by cafés that serve aesthetic and not much else. Dear Darling isn’t one of them. It’s cozy, colorful, and the food and coffee actually hold up.
