Roro Funnies

I’ve been out of rotation because I had an out of town shoot. It was an 11 hour travel to San Jose, Mindoro by land and Roro. It was just my 2nd time to ride the Roro.

The “air conditioned” room is fake, there is no air conditioning though it has the most comfortable seats but without proper ventilation.

Jim and his fantastic pancakes

You can get inspiration from so many things. I love seeing inspired people create. I showed my friend Mila's Dreams then after a few days she found something related, Jim's pancakes!

It started as a simple idea; Jim just wanted to create pancakes for his daughter, Allison. This little project was inherited from Jim's dad who used to do the same when Jim was younger.

Mila's Dreams (Cute baby alert!!)

Just the other day, my sister was asking costume suggestions for Halloween for her toddler inaanak (god child). It’s hard to find costumes for babies here in the Philippines since the options are very limited. However with tremendous ingenuity comes great output (right Spiderman?). Haha

One day while blog hopping, I came across Mila’s Dreams. It...is....AWESOME!!! Adele Enerson is a new mom from Helsinki taking her maternity break from the world of advertising.

Being the Curious George that I am, I had so many questions about the logistics and thought process of Adele so I snooped around her blog. This is such a production but Adele mentions that it only takes a few minutes to produce these amazing images which makes sense cos you wouldn’t want to wake up the baby! Mila, Mom’s dressing you up without your knowledge and then wakes you up??? One infraction (dressing you up) is enough. Haha!

The Cabbie that made me Happie (happy)

One thing you need to know about me, I look “kidnap-able”; I only look the part but can’t pay the part! Haha I was raised during the height of kidnap for ransom schemes (locals, foreigners, you name it) so my parents were very cautious. That’s the reason why I’m not normally friendly off the bat. I don’t like talking to strangers especially when in the country. Also it doesn’t help that without doing anything, I get called names or encounter people that are uneducated who end up disrespecting me (sa wika natin, pambabastos!). I’ve even had an experience when this person was over zealous about his town (in Mindanao where tourism isn’t popular yet), that he repeatedly said he wanted to take me there. Not in a stalker way, a friendlier but still creepy kinda way.

That’s why I don’t get chatty. Cab drivers have a tendency to be talkative. Luckily, I’ve had more pleasant than unpleasant experiences with cab drivers.

Today was an interesting day. I thought, "I have to blog about this!" The taxi driver has 2 jobs - driving around town and selling peanut butter! Peanut butter! I just found it adorable and admirable. I love seeing people work hard in a clean and honest way. Even if they’re constantly ridden with challenges and lured by vicious ways, they choose to do good. I believe that it’s harder to do good and choose the right path.

So to you Kuya, thank you for brightening my day! I hope your passengers buy more peanut butter from you!
